Main Stage Productions (Grades 2-12*)
Main Stage Productions members gain real, practical theatrical experience as they refine their acting, singing, dancing, and behind-the-scenes talents during several months of rehearsals culminating in a weekend of performances on the Metropolitan stage or another venue in the Morgantown area. Every student is part of the production with direct on-stage experience. Students learn teamwork, commitment, responsibility, and accountability by seeing a large project through from beginning to end. MTC students undertake intensive preparation for plays and musicals, which requires great dedication and diligence – but throughout the process they have fun and develop lasting friendships with children throughout the area.
Recent productions have included: Lion King Jr, Monty Python’s Spam-a-lot, Shrek, A Christmas Story, Beauty and the Beast, Mulan Jr, James and the Giant Peach Jr, Spamalot, Into the Woods, Oliver, Annie Jr. and The Little Mermaid Jr.
Each Main Stage Productions participant gets a part in a production. However, auditions are required for lead roles.
